UFC 75 showed us a little of everything: knockouts, decisions and controversies. For some reason, the fights usually lack energy when its held in England. Must be the bad matchmaking or..the jet lag. But, this is one of the better shows hosted in England. If there’s one thing to complain about UFC DVD’s, it’s the replays. Sometimes they don’t show replays because they go straight to the next fight. Also, the entrance music for the main events are changed. I understand where UFC is coming from because they’d have to pay for the songs. It’s a bit disappointing because some of them come out to cool songs. All the fights and extras is on one disc.

Jess Liaudin vs. Anthony Torres - Rating: 4.5/5
This is a solid fight. Both fighters are engaging each other. A lot of action.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] Damn Torres can take some punches. The ref, Mario Yamasaki had to stop the fight because Torres wouldn’t go down after taking heavy shots fromm Liaudin. [/spoiler]
Dennis Siver vs. Naoyuki Kotani - Rating: 4.5/5
This fight has both grappling and stand-up exchanges. The pace is good. Both fighters have heart.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] Close triangle attempt by Kotani in the first round. Siver’s ko punch in the second round was devestating. Both fighters put on a good show. [/spoiler]
Thiago Silva vs. Tomasz Drwal - Rating: 3.5/5
This is a decent fight. It’s not too impressive on both ends. The fighters are a bit sluggish. It’s all stand-up.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘]Sooner or later, Thiago Silva will get knocked out by a striker. It seems like he’s content to exchange strikes and doesn’t put his hand up. Pretty sloppy fight but at least both fighter went for the finish.[/spoiler]
Gleison Tibau vs. Terry Etim - Rating: 3.5/5
A classic match-up between the grappler and the striker. A lot of technical ground fighting.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘]I was rooting for the underdog, Etim. Too bad he lost. What frustrated me was that he couldn’t get up from the ground. Oh well, at least he didn’t give up. [/spoiler]
Houston Alexander vs. Alessio Sakara - Rating: 4/5
This is a brawl. Not very technical, but entertaining.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] Am I the only one not impressed with Sakara? UFC always hypes him up to be the next star but he looks so damn sloppy standing up. I’m glad Alexander whooped his ass. [/spoiler]
Marcus Davis vs. Paul Taylor - Rating: 4.5/5
A good fight. Both fighters have a lot of heart. It’s fast-paced. Both fighters are trying to finish each other.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] Oh man this was a back and forth match. I thought Davis was done after the high kick but he came back to beat Taylor. Sweet armbar by Davis! [/spoiler]
Cheick Kongo vs. Mirko Filipovic - Rating: 3/5
A disappointing fight between 2 strikers. It looks awesome on paper but does not live up to the hype. This is the birth of Cheik “cup” Kongo. You’ll know what i mean if you decide to watch the fight. This fight is still okay. it could have been better, but it’s still watchable.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] I’m not a big fan of these two fighter. They’re both jerks. I was rooting for Crocop because I wanted him to face Randy. Too bad Crocop got his ass kicked thanks to his arrogance and the cup shots by Kongo. It seems like Crocop likes to fight in Japan and doesn’t have the will to win in the UFC. [/spoiler]
Michael Bisping vs. Matt Hamill - Rating: 3/5
This fight is between two Ultimate Fighter alumns. A decent fight but the ending disappoints. I don’t want to spoil it but if you don’t like getting mad, then skip this fight.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] This was a bullshit call. Hamill definitely won this fight only to get robbed by the judges. What’s worse is Bisping talking shit afterwards like he kicked Hamill’s ass. FUCKING BS and made me hate Bisping. [/spoiler]
Quinton Jackson vs. Dan Henderson - Rating: 5/5
This is the fight of the night. A very technical battle between two of the best fighters in the world. Both fighters are very technical and explosive.
[spoiler 'show spoiler‘ ‘hide spoiler‘] Damn, I was on the edge of my seat for the entire fight. I scored the rounds, 3-2 in favor of Jackson. Both fighters were so explosive and showed great skills. Some good reversals on both ends and a back and forth battle. Henderson is no joke with his takedowns, taking down the bigger Jackson a couple of times. I was also impressed with Jackson’s cardio, he didn’t gas at all. Great fight[/spoiler]

UFC 75 is presented in 16:9 anamorphic widescreen. Video is clear with natural colors. Some parts break up once in a while, especially when they show the “Tale of The Tape” but overall this is an outstanding video.
Audio Score 4.5/5
Audio is dolby digital 2.0 and it does its job. Commentary is clear and the punches and thuds can be heard from the cage. Most MMA DVD’s not produced by UFC usually have bad audio. The worst part about these DVD’s is that the sound is not leveled. So you constantly have to turn up/down the volume. That’s why I’m appreciative of the UFC, they’ve set the bar for MMA DVD’s.
Special Features Score: 5/5
A mini-documentary about Rampage, Henderson, and Bisping leading up to fight day in England. It gives the viewers an idea on what fighters go through before and after each fights. This documentary alone is an incentive for any serious mma fans to get this DVD.
Conclusion:
UFC 75 was a fantastic event and this DVD delivers. Video and audio is great and the special feature is insightful. Highly recommended.
